■Ella Mai：エラ・フィッツジェラルドから名付けられたというエラ・メイは英ロンドン出身、1994年生まれの現在23歳。12歳で米ニューヨークに移り、高校を卒業した後帰国した。2014年には“Arize”というトリオ・グループのメンバーとして、イギリスの人気オーディション番組『Xファクター』に出場したが、結果は残せずグループは解散。翌2015年にソロ活動をスタートさせ、SoundCloudにアップした音源が注目されると、DJマスタードに見出され、彼のレーベル＜10 Summers Records＞と契約。2016年に『Time』、『Change』2作のEP盤、2017年2月に3作目『Ready』をリリース。その『Ready』の冒頭を飾っていたのが「Boo"d Up」。2018年に入り、インタースコープからメジャー展開されたこの曲はみるみるうちに全米チャート（The Billboard Hot　100）を上昇、7月には最高5位を記録する大ヒットとなる。12月に発表されるAMA（アメリカン・ミュージック・アワード）では２部門にノミネート。ライヴも定評のある彼女は、2017年にケラーニのツアーでサポートアクトを努め、2018年にはエッセンス・フェスティバルに出演した他、9月２３日にはジェイ・Z＆ビヨンセの“On The Run II”ツアーLA公演（Rose Bowl）に出演、10月にはブルーノ・マーズ”24K MAGIC”ツアーのサポート・アクトに大抜擢されるなど、大きな注目を集めている。
